In 2019, Ruth Hogben celebrated the ten-year anniversary of her creative partnership with pop superstar Lady Gaga. Known for her sharp focus and strong technical prowess, Ruth has been widely recognized as one of fashion’s most preeminent filmmakers. As an early champion of digital media, Ruth has created films for top global fashion houses such as Fendi, Dior, Hugo Boss, Rick Owens and Louis Vuitton. Ruth has also created iconic visuals and films for British Fashion legend Gareth Pugh.
Additionally, Ruth had the honor of working directly with the incomparable Alexander McQueen shortly before his passing. She went on to create 50+ pieces of content celebrating his work for the “Savage Beauty” exhibition at the V&A and Metropolitan Museum. Ruth has also created video content for the MET’s “Punk: Chaos to Couture” exhibit and has directed music videos for Kanye West and Prince, among other musical icons.
For Lady Gaga’s experiential performance at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards, honoring the late icon David Bowie, Ruth Hogben teamed up with PRETTYBIRD utilizing Intel technology to fully transform into the legend. The performance earned Hogben and Gaga critical praise, and PRETTYBIRD was awarded a Gold Digital & Interactive Design Lion.
While helming the singer’s creative direction with Andrea Gelardin as the duo Lobster Eye, Ruth oversaw Lady Gaga’s tour visuals, namely the Joanne World Tour, her performances at the Grammys, Oscars, AMAs and elsewhere, her TV appearances, her merch design and, most notably, her Superbowl halftime show.
Ruth signed with PRETTYBIRD in 2019 to center this next stage of her career on directing integrated advertising campaigns and branded content.
